Road trips are a great way to visit several places without staying in one place for too long. A lot of people and families like to take road trips as a way to see exciting locations.

While some people like to take spontaneous trips, having a solid idea of all of the places you want to go is smart.

There are many great places to visit in the UAE, and most spots are easy to drive to. Here are the top road trips to take while in the UAE.

Musandam Peninsula

The Musandam Peninsula is an incredibly scenic area to visit.

Many people are drawn to the peninsula because of its beautiful scenery and the many available sports due to its location. The Musandam Peninsula is around 22 miles wide and is part of Oman

This peninsula is surrounded by ocean waters and features fishing as its main industry. The majority of Musandam inhabitants are the Shihuh, who may be related to Musandam’s original inhabitants.

Not only is Musandam surrounded by oceans and water-related sports, but there are also beautiful mountains that can be explored by locals and travelers alike.

Dibba Rock and Fujairah

Those who love diving and snorkeling activities will want to visit Dibba Rock if they are in the United Arab Emirates.

Dibba Rock is located in Fujairah, in the United Arab Emirates. Apart from Dibba Rock, Fujairah hosts many activities to participate in and many beautiful sights to see. These activities can include hiking, cycling, and various water sports activities.

It will be hard for travelers not to find something they would enjoy doing. Even those who are not into athletic activities will have access to multiple hotels to rest and watch the sunset. If you are someone who enjoys island life, a trip to Fujairah is an excellent idea.

Ras Al Khaimah

If you are a history buff, you will most likely adore Ras Al Khaimah.

Ras Al Khaimah is an emirate that is full of history. The emirate was once known for having the largest pearls globally and is known as the fourth-largest emirate in the UAE. Ras Al Khaimah is not too far away from the previous entry, Fujairah.

There are many historical sites that tourists can visit if they choose to. The tribes of Ras Al Khaimah once had to defend themselves against the British Army in the early 1800s. This battle occurred in what is known as Dhayah Fort.

The area surrounding Dhayah Fort is incredibly fertile and has been inhabited for hundreds of years.

Apart from the historical aspect, Ras Al Khaimah also has a serene atmosphere that many people enjoy. The impressive 64 kilometre coastline is covered in fine white sand that people find calming.

Hatta lies within the emirate of Dubai. As the climate in Hatta is considerably cooler than the rest of Dubai, Hatta has become an oasis for those living in Dubai.

There are many activities to engage in, such as horseback riding, camping and mountain climbing. Hatta is a great place for those who are physically active and adventurous, as there are plenty of activities to do throughout the day.

Hatta boasts many hotels and resorts, as well as restaurants and stores. There are also many activities for those who are not keen on hiking or climbing, such as observational centers and centers where you can work with honey bees. There is even a Hatta sign that has been erected in the mountains that is similar to the Hollywood sign that is on display in Los Angeles.

Regardless of what you like to do, there is no shortage of interesting things to do in Hatta.

Jebel Akhdar, Oman

The history behind Jebel Akhdar is a fascinating one.

Up until the mid-1980s, Jebel Akhdar was not a well-known area. In fact, this area was not accessible unless one were to travel either on foot or with a horse or donkey’s assistance. In the mid-1980s, a helicopter landed in a mostly untouched part of Oman.

Within the helicopter were Princess Diana and Prince Charles, who spent hours painting the scenery of the new land they had found. Now, the very spot where the royal couple had spent their day is accessible to all who visit Jebel Akhdar. The view of the surrounding environment is a historically loaded one.

Jebel Akhdar translates to ‘Green Mountain’ and is part of the Al Hajar mountains. The Green Mountain is the highest point in the Al Hajar mountain range.

Because of this, many people are drawn to exploring Jebel Akhdar and seeing the view that Princess Diana herself once got to see.

Apart from being the highest point in the area, Jebel Akhdar is also known for its variety of agriculture. Many well-loved fruits and nuts grow in this area, including peaches and pomegranates. While Oman is mostly surrounded by desert, Jebel Akhdar is fortunate to be high enough to have a climate that brings in the rain.

The UAE is rich in culture and history, beautiful landscapes, and plenty of activities to participate in.

Whether you live in the UAE or are simply visiting, it would be worth taking a road trip and visiting some of the beautiful locations the land has to offer. United Arab Emirates is a wonderful place for those who are interested in history.

If you are thinking about taking a road trip with your family, consider any of these five locations listed above. Each location has a good mix of both historical and athletic attractions.
