2023 sees the 16th edition of the Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon, famously known for its breathtaking race route that never fails to provide stunning views of the Arabian Gulf, palm trees,  white sandy beaches and the formidable Jebel Jais mountains in the distance. The spectator-friendly course gives supporters a chance to soak up all the excitement, from watching world-class elites or the relay teams to cheering along the next generation of runners in the fun runs.

The Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon

The World Athletics Gold Label and the world’s fastest half marathon returns to Ras Al Khaimah on Saturday, 18 February 2023, with leading sportswear brand Under Armour as the new technical partner. The stunning Al Marjan Island will host the half marathon, featuring some of the best long-distance athletes, running enthusiasts and amateurs from across the globe competing in one of the key sporting events on the UAE calendar. The marathon, shorter races, relays and a fun run will take place on the picturesque coral-shaped Marjan Island. Runners will have impressive views of the Arabian Gulf, white sandy beaches and the backdrop of the Jebel Jais Mountains.

Al Marjan Island

Al Marjan Island has a glorious 2 kilometre corniche lined with seemingly endless palm trees. Visitors or residents of the island regularly enjoy a healthy and pleasant lifestyle by walking, jogging, running or cycling along the wide tracks. The track is popular during the cooler hours of the morning or evening. The Al Marjan Island running track transforms into a bustling hive of activity during the half marathon. The course runs from Al Marjan Island Boulevard in front of DoubleTree by Hilton Resort & Spa Marjan Island. Runners will take to the roads that wind spectacularly across the island, passing world-leading hotel destinations as they head along Sheikh Mohammed bin Salem Road and circle through Al Amwaj Avenue before heading back to the starting point to cross the finish line. Race Village boasts a host of exciting and interactive experiences throughout the race, from sporting activations to live music, entertainment and delicious food trucks.

Mina Al Arab

Runners in Ras Al Khaimah can also enjoy the breathtaking facilities in Mina Al Arab. It’s one of the finest waterfront destinations in the United Arab Emirates, known locally as the ‘home to perfection’. The established waterfront community blends seamlessly with lush landscaping, protected coastal wetlands and pristine natural beaches. The exclusive Mina Al Arab running track meanders through the shady, well-established gardens and down to the seashore and the bustling promenade. Walkers, joggers and runners can traverse the main ‘red’ route or go off course and enjoy a spot of nature along the unique nature trails. Conveniently placed benches are dotted along the course so that runners can rest or relax and enjoy the forever-changing views.
