Ras Al Khaimah is well known for its outstanding nature, leisure, adventure and authentic offerings. The emirates’ unchartered terracotta deserts magically surround the Ritz Carlton Ras Al Khaimah Al Wadi Desert.

The Ritz Carlton Ras Al Khaimah Al Wadi Desert is at the very heart of the protected Al Wadi Nature Reserve. The peaceful 101 villa resort gives guests the chance to experience authentic desert living in the lap of luxury. Surrounded by nature, there is every opportunity to see the rare oryx, bombastic camels, pretty desert foxes, and, if you are fortunate, the painfully shy desert cat. The unspoilt environment gives you the rare opportunity of experiencing the wilds of the desert and its undulating dunes.

The Arabian desert has been home to the Bedouins for over seven millennia. The Ritz Carlton seamlessly blends their five-star service with the traditional friendly Bedouin hospitality for guests to enjoy the tranquillity, rich heritage, culture and breathtaking landscapes. Desert bicycles are dotted around the resort for guests to enjoy.

Accommodation

There is no such thing as entry-level accommodation at the Ritz Carlton. There are two styles of rooms. The Bedouin-style luxury tented villas have spectacular sunrise or sunset views across the desert. The oversized contemporary accommodation offers exceptional biophilic living spaces with large lounges, terraces, floor to ceiling windows, a free-standing bath and a private swimming pool. The traditionally-inspired cooling mud-brick villas have elegant Arabic styling. Much loved intricate mashrabaya woodwork and atmospheric black and white photography of the local dunes adorn the walls. The semi-outside bathroom also has a stand-alone bath. You can choose from uninterrupted views of the desert or a walled garden for complete privacy. Each room is equipped with a state-of-the-art 55-inch LCD screen TV, tea and coffee maker, a minibar, safe and complimentary wifi.

Magical dining experiences

The Ritz Carlton team have created several memorable culinary experiences.

Dine as the Bedouins would and choose your favourite desert spot for a barbeque experience. A private chef will cook various meats, vegetables, seafood and fish to perfection as you relax under the stars.

Dine up high in the Al Wadi Tower, a private indigenous Arabic watchtower surrounded by endless dunes, beautiful pink sunsets and the night skies. Chefs will prepare a carefully planned six-course dinner for you.

Spa Experiences

The Rainforest

The Rainforest is a one-of-a-kind experience in the Middle East. It’s a unique blend of European hydrothermal culture and Middle Eastern bathing rituals. You’ll explore 16 different experiences as you weave your way through a carefully considered sequence of hydrothermal stations. Experience affusion showers, aroma steam, the brine cavern, a hammam, ice igloo, a rain walk and sole therapy. The journey ends with gentle stretches and relaxation on the comfortable lounge beds and use of the vitality pool. Soft acupressure massage water jets treat stress, release tense muscles and improve circulation. Mixing warming and cooling therapies have endless health benefits.

The Spa

The spa is peaceful and offers therapeutic and relaxing treatments in private pavilions, deluxe pavilions, royal pavilions or in-villa. The comprehensive, carefully considered menu contains favourite treatments from around the world. The long strokes of the Lomi Lomi massage from Polynesia have many healing benefits, including improved circulation for detoxification, stimulating the lymphatic system, releasing muscle tension, and providing a deep sense of relaxation.

Activities

The desert has a range of activities, including the Al Wadi Equestrian Adventure Centre, archery, cycling, star gazing, bird watching and nature drives within the protected parklands. Kids can become a Ritz Ranger and explore the nature reserve and learn some survival skills along the way.
