Are you ready for the family trip of a lifetime? Ras Al Khaimah, the nature emirate, provides incredible family-friendly experiences high in the mountains, deep in the desert and out at sea.
Make the most of your family time in Ras Al Khaimah with these eleven fun things to do with your kids.
For a taste of life as a superhero, soar amongst mountain peaks on the worldโs longest zip line. The Jais Flight is a bucket list experience, reaching speeds of up to 150kmph. Take in panoramic views of the Hajar Mountains on your three-minute descent.
Children are welcome to ride on Jais Flight as long as they are over 40kg and 130cm tall. All safety equipment is provided.
The Jais Sky Tour connects six zip lines high in the mountains to create a two-hour route with a birdโs eye view. Witness jaw-dropping scenery as you fly at an average of 60 kmph, feeling just like the falcons and hawks you might be lucky enough to spot.
Families can buy the Jais Sky Tour Family Package for a group discount on individual ticket prices. All participants need to be at least 130cm tall and between 40kg and 100kg.
Inspire your budding adventurers with a day and night running wild at Bear Grylls Explorers Camp. With the help of experienced instructors, your family can learn wilderness survival skills as you push yourself to the limits. Borrow all the camping equipment you need for a night in a cabin under the stars, too.
The Family Primal Survival Course takes 24 hours and is designed for at least one adult and one over 12 in a family group. Youโll need to bring suitable clothes and a positive attitude, but all other kits are provided.
The desert-based Al Wadi Equestrian Centre offers you the opportunity to experience Ras Al Khaimahโs astonishing nature close-up as you take a ride out into awe-inspiring dunes, where you may be lucky enough to spot camels, desert foxes and the rare Arabian Oryx.
Al Wadi Equestrian Centre caters to all ages and horse-riding abilities. Small ponies are available for very young riders.
Challenge yourselves on the Jais Ropes course, a series of obstacles suspended 10m above the ground. Conquer rope bridges, swinging loops, tightropes and crawl tunnels on a self-guided route at the Bear Grylls Explorers Camp. You can even ride a bike across a perilously narrow beam.
All participants must wear a harness and be hooked onto the safety line at all times. While the main route is designed for teens and adults, younger children from six upwards can take part on a lower-level option.
If you all have a thirst for speed, what better way to explore Ras Al Khaimahโs shoreline and Al Marjan Island than by speedboat? Whizz around the key sights, get up close to superyachts, and get a unique view of the human-made Al Marjan Island on a 45-minute speedboat tour.
Tours suit all ages, other than children under 5 years and 15kg who cannot ride on the boat for safety reasons.
Bassata is a replica of a traditional Bedouin village and celebrates culture that goes back thousands of years. Bedouins are nomads and in centuries past in Ras Al Khaimah, they would erect elaborate tent villages as they moved between sites in search of cooler weather, food and water sources.
At Bassata Desert Village, your family can live a day in the life of a Bedouin nomad. Head out deep into the desert and experience stunning nature, ride on a caravan of camels, eat from an open grill, and watch live performances by belly and tanoura dancers.
Get up as close as possible to the flora and fauna of Ras Al Khaimah by taking a hike out into the spectacular Hajar Mountains. There are some fantastic tried-and-tested hiking trails for kids that will wow your whole family with their natural beauty.
Just be sure to take sensible clothing, sunscreen, and water. There are also various courses you can take to prepare for hiking in Ras Al Khaimah if you want to build up confidence first.
RAK Track is an outdoor karting track designed for all levels of experience and confidence, making it one of the best things to do in Ras Al Khaimah with family. Simply โarrive and driveโ. Safety equipment and a suitable kart are provided, so all you need to do before hitting the starting line is to watch the safety briefing.
Children over the age of seven are able to race. If you or your kids are experienced karters, consider driving one of their professional karts powered by IAME X30 engines.
Suwaidi Pearls celebrates a long history of pearl divers in the UAE. Your family can take a boat tour that starts in a historic pearl fishing village and heads out into the shallow waters and natural mangroves where the foothills of the mountains and the Arabian Sea meet.
The tour is suitable for all ages, with family packages available. Youโll learn all about traditional diving techniques and the science behind modern pearl farming, before trying your luck and opening your own oyster; you may have a fantastic souvenir to take home from your travels!
