Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA) manages public transport in Ras Al Khaimah. It operates five city bus routes that make getting around Ras Al Khaimah by bus convenient for residents and visitors alike.

RAKTA also runs an intercity bus service in Ras Al Khaimah to facilitate travel between Ras Al Khaimah and the other emirates. Other services include RAK Ride, which provides fast and efficient bus service to remote areas in the emirate, and an international bus service to connect Ras Al Khaimah and Oman.

RAKTA Bus Routes

Based on the vision of Ras Al Khaimah 2030 and on the expansion strategy of Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority, which aims to provide sustainable transport solutions that meet society’s needs, RAKTA manages and operates the following public bus transport options in Ras Al Khaimah:

  • Internal or city bus service: There are five bus routes within the city of Ras Al Khaimah.
  • Intercity bus service: Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority operates a public bus service to and from other emirates
  • International: RAKTA has a bus service to and from Oman.
  • RAK ride: RAKTA also operates a bus service that connects the city to remote areas in Ras Al Khaimah.

The goal is to provide a safe and integrated transport network with a reliable bus timetable and stops to ensure smooth mobility for all.

To facilitate public transport in Ras Al Khaimah, RAKTA has also launched the E-SAQR Card. It’s an e-wallet card that commuters can purchase and top up with currency to pay for internal, international, and intercity bus service in Ras Al Khaimah.

E-SAQR Cards come in three variants.

  • Blue: For all commuters; AED 30 initial price, with AED 20 in currency to use for bus trip fees
  • Silver: For students, senior citizens, and residents above 60 years old; entitles the bearer to a 50% discount on bus fare; AED 20 initial purchase price with AED 10 in currency to use for bus trips
  • Gold: For people of determination; available for free and entitles the bearer to free bus transportation

You can buy the blue E-SAQR cards inside the bus and at the main bus station of Ras Al Khaimah in Al Dhait South. The silver and gold E-SAQR cards are available at the main bus station.

 

City Bus Timetables and Stops

The city has five RAKTA bus routes. They are the Red Line, Green Line, Blue Line, Purple Line, and Orange Line.

 

RED LINE

Route: Al Nakeel to Al Jazirah Al Hamra || Al Jazirah Al Hamra to Al Nakeel

Bus fare: AED 8

Availability: Saturday to Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Bus trip frequency:

From Al Nakeel: Hourly, from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

From Al Jazirah Al Hamra: Hourly, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

 

BLUE LINE

Route: Al Nakeel to Sha’am area || Sha’am area to Al Nakeel

Bus fare: AED 8

Bus stops: 13, including the Al Nakeel and Sha’am area stops

Availability: Saturday to Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Bus trip frequency:

From Al Nakeel: Hourly, from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

From the Sha’am area: Hourly, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

The intercity bus service in Ras Al Khaimah takes passengers from Ras Al Khaimah to Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm al Quwain, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Global Village. The intercity buses depart from the bus station at Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority in Al Dhait, Ras Al Khaimah.

RAK Ride and International Bus Timetables and Stops

The RAK Ride Service

RAK Ride is a direct, non-stop service from Al Nakeel to Al Ghail and vice versa. A bus leaves Al Nakeel every two hours from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Meanwhile, a bus leaves Al Ghail every two hours from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

RAK Ride has four stopping points:

  • Al Nakeel
  • Ras Al Khaimah International Airport
  • Aden
  • Al Ghail

The fare is AED 10 or AED 20, depending on origin and drop-off points.

 

International Bus Service

Ras Al Khaimah’s sustainable transport solutions include bus service to and from the Governorate of Musandam in the Sultanate of Oman.

There are two bus trips to and from Ras Al Khaimah every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

From Ras Al Khaimah to Musandam

Departure times: 8:00 a.m., 6:00 p.m.

Departure point: Main Bus Station, Al Dhait South, Ras Al Khaimah

Trip destination: Wilayat of Khasab, Musandam
