Ras Al Khaimah knows how to throw an award-winning New Year’s Eve party, so much so that they’ve set a few world records. Last year, Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority dazzled hundreds of thousands of spectators with its #RAKNYE2022 fireworks display on Al Marjan Island. They smashed two Guinness World Record titles. The vast 12-minute fireworks display featured never-seen-before innovative pyrotechnic drone performances and over 15,000 effects spanning an area of almost 5 kilometres. Not only did the emirate celebrate the spirit of optimism, but the extraordinary display marked 50 years of Ras Al Khaimah being an essential part of the United Arab Emirates and the region’s leading tourism destination.

The emirate had a standing ovation as a spectacular tower of lights, some 1,056 metres tall, became a beacon of hope, positivity, resilience and confidence. Minutes later, at midnight, 452 firework drones scribed ‘Happy New Year’ in the night sky. The sequence lit up the entire island in multiple colours set to orchestral music. Hundreds of drones displayed the 50th-anniversary logo in a brilliant performance, culminating in a mega-expanse of white fireworks illuminating the skyline of Ras Al Khaimah with the message of ambition and optimism.

Welcoming 2023 is set to break even more Guinness World Records.
