With an inimitable combination of a breathtaking location, sleek modern design elements and surprising world-class international cuisine combinations, you’ll have breakfast, lunch or dinner to remember. With one of the most impressive views in the United Arab Emirates, 1484 by Puro is the highest restaurant in the country. The panorama of the Jebel Jais mountains is extraordinary. Dine with views across the cloud-piercing mountains peppered with small abandoned shepherd huts, sleepy tribal villages and otherworldly landscapes.

The Jebel Jais mountains proudly boast the highest peaks in the UAE, internationally famed for breathtaking hikes, challenging sports, the world’s longest zipline, Bear Grylls survival camp and other adrenaline-inducing activities. Whether you climb the switch-back mountain roads for an Instagram-worthy meal, pop in after an adventure, or as the sun rises, you’ll enjoy the comprehensive menu bursting with delicious flavours.

Modern interiors, retro-inspired furniture, and floor-to-ceiling windows that open up to spectacular views set the centre stage for a memorable dining experience. The restaurant can comfortably seat up to 76 guests inside and alfresco on the expansive terrace. 1484 by Puro is named according to its exact height above the Arabian Gulf. The restaurant is ideal for a quick bite, leisurely lunches, and of course, cake! Owned by Puro, it’s the latest addition to their independent fine dining concept with two existing restaurants at Al Marjan Island and the Jais Viewing Deck Park.

Resident chefs from the well-reputed hospitality brand use a range of locally-sourced organic ingredients that are healthy and hearty. The refreshing menu has a comprehensive, perfectly curated collection of your favourite world dishes, including breakfast staples such as stacks of pancakes with mixed berries, chantilly cream and maple syrup; eggs Benedict with a toasted English muffin, turkey ham, spinach, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce or a traditional shakshuka; poached eggs in a spicy tomato and green pepper stew with crumbled feta cheese, freshly baked Arabic bread and olives. Health-driven diners will love the acai bowl with bananas, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, granola, chia seeds and crunchy coconut flakes.

The all-day menu has a range of light snacks, such as the crispy zucchini fries served with lemon chilli aioli, parmesan cheese, and parsley and Momos steamed dumplings with chicken or ricotta and spinach. The smoked beef carpaccio comes with homemade honey mustard dressing, pickled capers, parmesan, pine nuts, rocket and a tasty balsamic reduction. If you enjoy Eastern cuisine, tuck into the Korean crispy fried boneless chicken with a deliciously sweet and spicy Korean sauce, Asian slaw and green onion, or the tempura battered wasabi shrimp with mango salsa.

Oyster lovers can choose from the UAE salt-water bivalve molluscs. Try them chilled and raw with tabasco lemon foam and sea salt or baked with garlic and parsley butter, parmesan cheese, and baby chives. Salads are abundant with beetroot and kale, crunchy chicken, roasted cauliflower or a Thai salad with a kick! Burgers are an excellent dish for post-adventure activities in the mountains. Choose 1484, a brioche packed with an Angus beef patty, iceberg lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese, chipotle mayo, and a large side of French fries. Carnivores will enjoy their 200-gramme ribeye or 150-gramme tenderloin steaks served with tempting side dishes like mashed potato, creamed spinach, house salad, and a selection of sauces. Vegetarians and vegans are also catered for with a fresh vegan poke bowl, paneer tikka masala and vegetable cashew stirfry. There’s also pizza, fish and chips and a kids’ menu, so every diner is happy. Ensure you leave lots of room for a dessert and some sweet delights, including another Thai favourite, sticky mango rice, chocolate fondant with black sesame ice cream, chocolate sauce, mixed berries and an almond streusel.

The drinks menu is equally impressive with an exciting variety of coffee, including Spanish latte, piccolo, pumpkin spiced latte, a unique Emirati blend, and Turkish and Irish coffees made with dairy, soya or almond milk. 1484 has a fun selection of bubble milk tea with flavours such as matcha, taro and watermelon. If you want something more substantial, a sundowner cocktail or mocktail like the Thaljito, a blend of spiced rum, lime, ginger and lemongrass syrup, brown sugar and ginger beer, for a Middle Eastern taste, plump for the sticky date martini made with vodka, Kahlua, butterscotch, espresso, caramel date syrup and condensed milk.

Whatever your reason for venturing up the Jebel Jais mountains visiting 1484 by Puro, you are guaranteed unbeatable views, delicious coffee and drinks, and hearty food. All served with a smile.
