The Ultimate Guide to Booking and Enjoying the Jais Sky Tour
Experience the Jais Sky Tour in Ras Al Khaimah, the region's longest multi-zipline adventure offering six exhilarating flights across Jebel…
Late afternoons are the best times to explore Ras Al Khaimah. Because after 5 pm, the heat eases, the light turns gold, and the emirate’s beaches, heritage villages, desert reserves, and mountain roads transform into something extraordinary. You wonโt want to miss the outdoors, then.
This sample Ras Al Khaimah summer itinerary is built entirely around that window: three evenings across three days, each one a different face of the same remarkable place.
With so many attractions on offer and rich terrain to explore, the northern emirate will coax you out of your hotel and get you to enjoy an array of activities.
Hereโs a quick rundown of the many things to do in Ras Al Khaimah at night:
Summer golden hour in Ras Al Khaimah falls between approximately 6:30 pm and 7:15 pm. We suggest planning dinner reservations for 7:30 pm or later.
Your first evening in Ras Al Khaimah can be about understanding the emirateโs relationship with the sea.
5 pm – Drive to Al Rams Beachย
Al Rams in Ras Al Khaimah is an underrated evening destination: a traditional fishing harbor where smaller boats sit in shallow turquoise water, often still being worked on or rinsed down by fishermen finishing their day.
6:30 pm – Golden Hour at Al Ramsย
Stay for golden hour. During the last 20 minutes of evening light, the warm raking sun picks out the grain of each hull while the hue of the water turns to hammered copper. This is one of the most photogenic scenes in the emirate and one of the least visited.ย
7:30 pm – Drive back along the Cornicheย
Return south along the coastal road and walk the Al Qawasim Corniche as the sky darkens. The Corniche’s creek mirrors the fading gradient above the city, and the low, unhurried skyline creates a sense of scale that feels generous rather than overwhelming. Families fill the promenade at night; cyclists, children, and couples take in the evening air in both directions.
8:30 pm – Dinner on the waterfrontย
End the evening at one of the Corniche’s waterfront restaurants. The cooler air off the creek, the ambient sound of the water, and the unhurried pace of a Ras Al Khaimah summer evening make this a meal worth lingering over.

5 pm – Al Jazeera Al Hamraย
Al Jazeera Al Hamra is the only surviving pearling village in the entire Gulf region. The village features a fort, watchtowers, a mosque, a souq, and extensive courtyard houses. The late afternoon light on the pale stone facades is unlike anything the site offers at midday.
6:45 pm – Drive toward Dhayah Fortย
Dhayah Fort, the UAE’s only surviving hilltop fort, sits 70 meters above sea level on a volcanic outcrop, surrounded by date palm gardens in the Wadi Naqab valley. In summer, the late afternoon is the right time to make the short climb โ the heat will have softened significantly by 7 pm, and the views across the palm groves toward the coast are at their most dramatic in the last light of the day.
7 pm – Dhayah Fort at golden hourย
Reach the fort before golden hour ends. Evening light matches Dhayah’s naturally golden mud-brick tones almost perfectly. The twin-peaked profile against the warm sky, with the date palms below and the Gulf visible on the horizon, is the kind of scene that makes the entire trip worth it.
8:30 pm – Dinner at 1484 by Puro (Temporarily Closed)
Please note that 1484 by Puro is temporarily closed. The UAE’s highest restaurant is located 1,484 metres above sea level on the summit of Jebel Jais, and the drive up the mountain road at night is an experience in its own right. The mountain air at the summit is noticeably cooler than the coast, making it a worthwhile stop even if you plan to dine elsewhere.
On your third day, explore the Al Wadi Desert reserve. After 5 pm in summer, it becomes one of the most quietly spectacular landscapes in the UAE.
5 pm – Arrange a sunset camel caravan in the Al Wadi Desertย
Head to The Ritz-Carlton Ras Al Khaimah, Al Wadi Desert. The massive private desert reserve is home to Arabian gazelle, oryx, and an extensive resident bird population. Ride atop a camel and into the nature reserve. A sunset camel caravan ends with a glass of sparkling wine or date juice on the dune.
Alternatively, check with the resort about a late afternoon nature drive and wildlife feeding. These Ritz-Carlton experiences might be scheduled in the morning.
6:30 pm – Do a night walk
Explore the nature reserve after dark and discover the nocturnal habits of wildlife, from reptiles to camel spiders. This is a different kind of experience in Ras Al Khaimah from the coast or the heritage sites, and it rewards stillness.
7:30 pm – Dine on the dunes
With the desert cooling quickly around you and the first stars appearing over the dune horizon, dinner on the dunes is a must in Al Wadi. The resort offers you the opportunity to experience the hospitality and cuisine of the Bedouin people. The menu offers a vegetarian option.
9 pm onward – Stargazingย
Stargazing is one of the most memorable Ras Al Khaimah evening activities. Summer skies in Al Wadi are clear, and on moonless nights the Milky Way is visible above the desert in a way that is genuinely rare this close to a major urban area. The resort arranges stargazing sessions with a guide.
As one of the UAEโs most scenic emirates, Ras Al Khaimah has many spots for watching the sunset. Here are just a few of them.
Itโs flat, paved, and fully accessible from any point on the island. The Al Marjan Island waterfront faces west over the Gulf with full, unobstructed sunset views from the island’s tip.ย
Jebel Jais features multiple designated pull-off points along the mountain road with no hiking required. Drive, park, step out. The highest accessible viewpoint by car sits at 1,640 meters above sea level โ significantly cooler than the coast and with views across the entire northern UAE.
Itโs accessible to resort guests from the terrace and pool areas; flat dune-edge positions with full western views and no preparation required.
The best time for outdoor activities in Ras Al Khaimah during summer is from 5 pm onward, when the heat softens, and a coastal breeze builds. The golden hour window between 6:30 pm and 7:15 pm is ideal for sunset photography, dune drives, and waterfront walks. By 8 pm, temperatures are comfortable enough for night swimming, family promenades, and stargazing. Arriving at outdoor locations by 5 pm rather than 6:30 pm gives visitors the full evening light window.ย
Several areas in Ras Al Khaimah come alive in the evening and are well-suited for families. The Ras Al Khaimah Corniche is filled with families, cyclists, children, and couples along the waterfront promenade. Al Marjan Island offers a flat, fully accessible seafront with unobstructed Gulf views and a cooling offshore breeze. The Al Wadi Desert reserve is another family-friendly option in the evening, with guided camel rides, outdoor terraces, and stargazing sessions that begin after dark.ย
Visitors planning a summer weekend in Ras Al Khaimah should book dinner reservations and mountain experiences in advance. 1484 by Puro, the UAE’s highest restaurant on Jebel Jais, is popular and best reserved before your trip. Guided sunset desert experiences and stargazing sessions at Al Wadi Desert also benefit from advance booking, particularly on weekends.ย
The hours between 5 pm and midnight are Ras Al Khaimah’s best-kept summer secret. Golden light on ancient forts, warm evenings at deserted pearling villages, dune sunsets in a private desert reserve, and dinners at altitude.ย
